Stalwart veterans who never phone it in, they do a lot with minimal screen time. Woody Harrelson is hilarious as the macho gay GQ sports editor with his own mode of transportation to and from work. There are welcome cameos from Andy Samberg, Emma Stone, and Jason Segel (who was Kunis' love interest in Forgetting Sarah Marshall).

When a recruiter and an art director strike up a friendship, they decide to capitalize on their chemistry with casual sex and no emotional attachments. The formula now requires them to fall in love, to run into obstacles, to fight, to break up forever and yadda yadda yadda. "Friends With Benefits" makes this process more entertaining because the cast is populated with good supporting actors. Patricia Clarkson is Jamie's mother, an unreformed product of the sexual revolution. Richard Jenkins plays Dylan's father, who suffers from movie Alzheimer's. That's the form of the disease where the victim has perfectly timed lucid moments to deliver crucial speeches, and then relapses.

In 2011, Kunis starred alongside Timberlake in the romantic comedy Friends With Benefits. And according to the Black Swan star, she found the script to be "dated" when she first read it. Fortunately, though, she was able to talk to the director, Will Gluck, to make some changes. Dylan and Jamie think it's going to be easy to add the simple act of sex to their friendship, despite what Hollywood romantic comedies would have them believe.

They soon discover however that getting physical really does always lead to complications. "Friends with Benefits" has a predictable and unoriginal rom-com storyline and its ending is pretty lame. Yet this movie coasts on the charisma of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis and a lot of sharp and witty dialogue. As long as these two actors are talking to each other or having sex, there is hardly ever a dull moment. In most rom-coms, the actors play pretty dim-witted, boring and superficial people and therefore there is no reason to take interest in anything they may say or do. In this rom-com, "Friends with Benefits," Timberlake and Kunis play fresh, independent and smart people and for this reason we are interested in the lives they lead and what they say to each other.

In Australia, it premiered on August 18, 2011 and earned $2.4 million during its opening weekend, charting above Green Lantern to finish first at the box office. It grossed $10.6 million from over 20 territories in its first weekend. Friends with Benefits topped first place in France, where it opened with $1.8 million. The film performed highest in the United Kingdom and Germany, where it grossed $3.1 million and $2.6 million in its first weekend upon release, respectively. By mid-September, the film had grossed over $29.6 million internationally. It went on to gross over $149.5 million worldwide, with international grosses standing at $93.7 million.
